The Last of Us 2

Release date: June 19

The Last of Us 2 takes up Joel and Ellie’s story five years after their initial match. While survival will still be the main theme of the game in a post-outbreak setting, and it will be set-at at least partly-in Seattle. Ellie is really pissed off about something in the latest unveiling trailer and the stakes appear bigger than ever before. Naughty Puppy, initially scheduled for release in February, agreed to push back the release date and make sure it’s as seamless as possible and we can’t wait to see where Ellie’s tale leads us.

2. Upcoming Video Games Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima

Platform(s): PS4
Release date: July 17, 2020

Sucker Punch struck us with quite the shock when it first unveiled Ghost of Tsushima out of the blue: a studio samurai-led tale of ancient Japan that gave you the series Infamous and Sly Cooper. You are playing a swordsman known as “The Ghost,” who is fighting for his life against the Mongol Empire’s invading armies. The unfolding story is based on real historical events that kicked off in 1274. The new trailer that debuted at the 2019 Game Awards not only gave us a release date, it also showed off some extremely slick action and a range of beautiful views in “Sucker Punch’s biggest game ever made by a broad margin.” Get ready for lots of intense melee combat in a massive, open-world feudal Japan takeover.

3. Upcoming Video Games Tell Me Why

Tell Me Why

Platform(s): PC, Xbox One
Release date: Summer 2020

The next narrative adventure in Dontnod tells the story of Alyson and Tyler Ronan, reunited twins, who have a special bond. Described as an “intimate thriller,” the twins use their unique relationship to unravel the mystery of a troubled childhood-although caring. The game is set to explore the memory theory, and both twins are player protagonists, which sounds very interesting. As with past Dontnod games like Life is strange you can make choices that form the story of the twins. Interestingly, the plot will unfold over three chapters and will all be published in the summer, so you will be able to enjoy the journey of narration.

4. Upcoming Video Games Wasteland 3

Video Games Wasteland 3

Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One, PC
Release date: August 28, 2020

Set in Colorado’s frozen post-apocalyptic lands, Wasteland 3 looks like a great tactical RPG to tuck in with your friends. The third entry in the Wasteland series, available to play entirely solo or in co-op, is a story-driven game where your choices matter. Every choice you make can give you new opportunities or close them off, take you to new areas, and lead you to different arcs of stories. This option and variety make it sound very replayable and the environment is set to present you with some tough moral choices as you decide how to lead in the frozen waste. This is certainly one to watch, particularly as InXhile has been working to improve the turn-based combat of the show, which will also have a new dialog system that fully voiced characters to add to the experience’s immersive RPG side.

5. Upcoming Video Games Marvel’s Avengers

Marvel's Avengers

Platform(s): PC, Xbox One, PS4
Release date: September 4, 2020

Crystal Dynamics has assembled a stellar cast from the Avengers team with the voice acting skills of Laura Bailey, Troy Baker, Nolan North, Travis Willingham, and Jeff Schine. We’ll be forced to act as Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Hulk in a plot that’s different from the MCU. Five years on, the heroes reassemble after being blamed for the San Francisco earthquake, as the planet falls under a new threat. Marvel’s Avengers looks like one epic adventure with four-player co-op.

6. Upcoming Video Games Cyberpunk 2077

Platform(s): PC, PS4, Xbox One
Release date: September 17, 2020

CD Projekt Red has sent us some utterly ravishing teases of Cyberpunk 2077 and its futuristic Night City, and before we play it for ourselves, we’re going to wear over every trailer and screenshot looking for new info. From the first-person point of view, as a customizable protagonist, you’ll explore a dense metropolis-a departure for the studio that initially sent some Witcher fans into a tizzy. They’ll get over it by jumping into the grungy world of high-tech weapons and digital warfare in Cyberpunk 2077.

7. Upcoming Video Games Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite

Platform(s): PC, Xbox One, Xbox Project Scarlett
Release date: Holiday 2020

Make no mistake; the follow-up to 2015’s Halo 5 from 343 Industries is still a long way off, but it is happening. The first Halo Infinite trailer, carrying a strange new subheader and running on a brand new game engine known as Slipspace, almost seems to imply that the next adventure Master Chief’s characteristics should be MMO, or at least more open-ended and flavor-like sandbox. The immediately recognizable shot of his armor also teases a possible technical downgrade for the favorite Spartan of everyone, although plot specifics remain threadable for the time being. MMO or otherwise, Halo: Infinity could only be the Halo revival that we were all waiting for.

8. Upcoming Video Games Godfall

Video Games Godfall

Platform(s): PS5, PC (Epic Games Store)
Release date: Holiday 2020

Godfall is expected to land on the PS5 at the tail end of the year, as one of the first games to be announced for Sony’s next-gen console. It is described by Developer Counterplay Games as a loot-driven RPG action focusing on real-time melee combat. The latest IP is set in a world of fantasy, with “heroic knights, arcane sorcery, and prohibited realms.” The game can also be played in co-op or solo in its entirety if you so wish. We don’t know anything else about this looter-slasher yet, but certainly, the brilliant action-packed trailer and the high fantasy atmosphere of the game is enticing.

9. Upcoming Video Games Outriders

Outriders

Platform(s): PC, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X
Release date: Holiday 2020

Outriders is a brand new shooter IP from People Can Float, and published by Square Enix. You are playing as a human member who was forced to leave Earth and landed on a world named Enoch. But, they are pushed back into cryostasis by an enormous storm called The Anomaly. And yet when they wake up they are both imbued with insane energies. It’s a mass phenomenon that reaches Disaster and that’s who we are.

10. Upcoming Video Games Disintegration

Disintegration

Platform(s): PC, Xbox One, PS4
Release date: TBC 2020

As an IP from the recent interactive studio V1, which was co-founded by former creative director Marcus Lehto of Bungie, Disintegration is expected to be a fascinating combination of FPS and RTS. You play as Romer Shoal, a Gravcycle pilot who controls a small resistance party-which is like a motorcycle that can fly over the battlefield. Set in the “Near Future of Earth,” where mankind is on the verge of extinction due to overpopulation, severe weather and food shortages, Romer’s crew is trying to “reboot” civilization. It’s shaping up to look and sound exciting indeed with the main campaign and the possibility of a major multiplayer element. Yeah, and the former co-creator of Halo’s is on board. Crazy stuff.
