Bottleneck Calculator

A rough read on whether your CPU or GPU is the limiting part of your build, based on relative performance tier and your target resolution. Some imbalance is normal and not worth chasing — this is a directional estimate, not a benchmark.

Higher resolutions shift more of the workload onto the GPU, so a CPU bottleneck is less likely.

How this works

  1. Each CPU and GPU tier gets a score: 40 for entry-level, 65 for mid-range, 85 for high-end and 100 for enthusiast.
  2. Resolution shifts the GPU score: +15 at 1080p, 0 at 1440p and −15 at 4K, because lower resolutions let the GPU deliver frames faster and lean harder on the CPU.
  3. If the adjusted GPU score beats the CPU score by more than 12 points, the result is CPU-bound; if it trails by more than 12, it is GPU-bound; anything in between is balanced. The percentage shown is the gap in points, capped at 40.

It compares broad tiers, not specific chips, and every game loads the CPU and GPU differently. The percentage is a rough size of the gap, not a measured performance loss.
